10 Must-Have Baby Shower Books for the Expectant Parent

Recent trends in baby showers involve asking guests to bring a book instead of a card. My first reaction was skepticism – aren’t books more expensive than gift cards? However, I found that baby books were the same price or even less than baby shower cards when I attended one!
At my baby shower, I asked for the same thing and was so glad I did! In addition to a full library for my baby, I now have a great story to tell her about his family and friends to go along with each book. It also brings back great memories of my baby shower.
Here are some tips on how to ask guests to bring books instead of cards at your baby shower, the best baby books to ask for, and what to write inside the books.

Benefits of Books vs. Cards

A card can be generic, but a book is all about the baby! They know that someday their message will be read by your baby when guests sign their name and write a message inside. Bringing board books or books with illustrations of the nursery is even more exciting! The baby will enjoy reading them too!

I now prefer to bring books to baby showers instead of cards because they last longer and will be used more frequently. It is more personal and thoughtful to give a book as a baby shower gift versus a traditional card. Also, they make great baby shower gifts!
